A Little Here, A Little There...

As if raising four kids wasn't challenging enough as it is, throw homeschooling into the mix and it is a real test of my strength and patience!  And now, I am a glutton for punishment...I want to start my own business.  :)  Am I a little crazy?  Yes, definitely!  Running my very own business is something I have always wanted to do, but the timing was always off.  It may be now, too, but something in my gut tells me to go for now and don't stop until you succeed!  So, that's where I am.

About the homeschooling: the kids DO take a lot of time, so my business is taking the backseat...which is how it has to be and ought to be in my opinion.  My family comes first.  Period.  So, learning about the business, taking classes for permits and licenses...all that has to be done a little bit here, a little bit there.

Right now, I am in the process of writing my business plan.  This was something I was sort of dreading.  I had no idea what I was doing or how to write one.  But to my astonishment, I am REALLY enjoying the process!  It is actually FUN to do a little market research and learn to write a successful business plan!  Go figure!!

I am also actively looking for a truck to retrofit.  There are many options, so it is a little tough deciding which route to go.  Rawket Cafe Food Station has to be hip...it has to be an expression of myself in a way...an artistic masterpiece!  What do you guys think?  An Airstream redone with wings and boosters?  A VW with cool paintings all over?  Maybe an old school bus done up Partridge Family-style?  Have another idea to throw at me?  Please leave me a comment and I'll write ya back!!

  2. The Airstream idea seems pretty interesting, it is going to be a bit pricey though. You'll have to be able to stand up straight and move around freely. What about taking a look on Google images and looking at something like a taco truck. Maybe like one of the silver ones. You could do it up like the Airstream idea you've thought up. You could even get a regular taco truck and paint it up like the Partridge Family style and that would be a great idea too. It might be less costly than the Airstream plus the purchase of a truck to pull it around. I've never priced a taco truck though. You'll be able to just drive the taco truck around just about anywhere. I'm not sure if you've ever seen a taco truck or not, but they have them all over in Larado. It's just a thought...
By the way I have really enjoyed reading your blog :)

    1. So, are Airstreams kinda short? Are they hard to stand up in? Yes, they can be pricey, for sure! I've seen a few good deals. That may have to wait til later down the road when I am making a little extra income! :) I HAVE indeed seen great deals on taco-type trucks! Thanks for your suggestions, Lora! It was very nice of you to take time out to share your thoughts!

    2. I thought they were kind of short from what I had in my mind. After you replied, I took a look at some images of Airstreams. I thought they only came in trailor-style only, but there are regular RV-style ones too. I didn't know that, now I do! LOL I guess the only question would be, if you get an Airstream somewhere down the road. Would you need to get a Class B CDL to drive one or not? That, I don't know. All states are different. And I've often wondered that. I guess you would have to ask the DMV and the dealer that you would be buying it from. I wouldn't actually count on the answers you get from the DMV to be absolutely true because the rules aren't always clear in the handbook. :( One person may say, yes and another may say, no. They are bound to make mistakes too. I did see some suggestions on the internet about going to a RV rental place and ask them about whether or not you would need a special license or not to operate one. Of course you would need to know the weight, length, and height of the one you plan to purchase on down the road so you could compare it to one they have on the lot. They definately wouldn't let anyone rent a RV if that person doesn't have the proper license for that specific sized RV. It's all in research, I guess.
